Ruby Rechenthin Obituary

Ruby Irene Rechenthin nee Jung of Sisterdale, Texas passed away at Comfort Nursing and Rehab at the age of 98 on February 28, 2025. Ruby was born on January 13, 1927 to Walter and Nellie Jung at home on her family's ranch on the Old Number 9 Hwy near what is now the Old Tunnel State Park.
Ruby attended Grapetown school until 1941 and then attended Fredericksburg High School where she received her high school diploma on May 24, 1945. On a snowy day of January 5, 1947, she married Carl Albert Rechenthin. After marrying, she moved to the Rechenthin farm in Sisterdale, Texas and lived there for 75 years. Ruby and Carl had two children, Daryl Wayne Rechenthin and Debra Elaine Rechenthin, who tragically died in a car accident on October 29, 1972 at the age of 17. Ruby was an avid baker, gardener, and hunter. She was well-known for her tea rings and was recognized in 1955 as a Prize-Winning Cook on the Fleischmann's Yeast Roster of Leading Cooks throughout the United States. She also received an Honorary Life Membership by the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers in 1974 for her service given to children and youth. She served as Secretary for the Hermann Sons Lodge #2 from 1974 to 2001 and was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, Texas.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nellie Jung, her daughter, Debra Elaine Rechenthin, her husband, Carl Albert Rechenthin, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Jung, 1st wife – Florence, 2nd wife – Helen, Paul Jung, Daniel Jung and wife Louise Jung, and Adolph "Buddy" Jung.
She is survived by a son and spouse, Daryl and Marla Rechenthin of Comfort, three grandchildren, Dana Fiedler and spouse, Myron, of Sisterdale, Daniel Rechenthin of Sisterdale, and Dalen Rechenthin of Comfort, two great-grandchildren, Chance Fiedler and Breena Fiedler, and sister-in-law Ruth Jung of Comfort.
Visitation for Ruby will be held at Schaetter's Funeral Home in Comfort, Texas on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, Texas on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10:00am. Graveside services and interment will follow at the Sisterdale Cemetery in Sisterdale, Texas where Ruby will be laid to rest between her daughter, Debra Elaine and husband, Carl.
The pallbearers are Daniel Rechenthin, Dalen Rechenthin, Ricky Jung, Steven Jung, Roy Kneupper, Robert Hale, and Keith Jung (Honorary).
