Publish in a newspaper

Russie Claire Scott, 80 years of age, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 11, 2025, in her home in Kingston, TN.
Russie was born on February 7, 1945, in Greenwood, SC to the late Betty Reece and the late Russell Scott. Russie was the second child of three children.
Russie lived a gifted life full of family and friends that she kept embedded deep inside her heart. Her younger years were spent in Greenwood, SC. In 1968 she moved to Smyrna, GA. In her early years her hobbies included fishing, making latch hook rugs, crocheting blankets, re-strapping aluminum chairs, painting by numbers, and word searches. If she could help it, she never missed an episode of General Hospital for 62 years. Russie wrote to many soap opera celebrities and obtained autographed photos. She loved the Atlanta Braves and recorded a multitude of years of Braves games scores in her notebooks. Russie had 4 toy poodles, at different times, and named all of them Fifi.
Russie was passionate about collecting soda can tabs for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Everyone who knew her saved tabs for her. St. Jude's recognized her many contributions and awarded her a certificate of appreciation along with a mention in the newspaper.
In 2022, Russie moved to Kingston, TN where she enjoyed watching and talking to the birds, squirrels, and geese at the breakfast table and informing Amy and Dianne every single night when the deer needed to be fed. Russie enjoyed spending time and visiting with many of her great nieces and nephews, and even a great-great nephew.
Though Russie was never married, she spent her life madly in love with Elvis Presley. She loved good food and kind people.
Every person that met Russie instantly fell in love with her. Russie loved Christ and attending church when she was able to hear the singing.
To cherish her loving memory, Russie leaves behind her 2 sisters: Glenda Leary (Jim) and Dianne Thompson; 5 nephews and nieces: Shawn Leary (Mark), Deron Leary (Ramona), Anissa Sullivan (Brian), Amy Williams, Anthony Howard (Jennifer); 9 great-nephews and great-nieces: Maysie, Zachary, Skylar, Cole, Garrett, Georgia, Aaron, Chaz, Riley; 1 great-great nephew: Carson("my boy")
Arrangements have been made for Saturday, July 19, 2025. Visitation begins at 9:30am to conclude at 10:30 am at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood, SC.
Graveside service will follow at First Mount Moriah Church in Greenwood, SC, with Zachary Williams officiating.
