Ruth Mae Walkerow 94, of Nashville, Ohio passed away peacefully August 8, 2025, at Majora Lane Care Center following a period of declining health.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday August 30, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Carnes officiating. Burial will follow at Nashville Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Cemetery or Western Holmes Co. Fire District.

Ruth was born February 23, 1931, in Loudonville, Ohio and was the daughter of William and Bessie (Oplinger) Heller. She married Darrell Walkerow on July 3, 1950, and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2015. Ruth retired from Wayne County National Bank of Wooster. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing cards and bingo, and hanging out with friends at Lake Erie. Ruth loved sending cards to those with Birthday and Anniversary Announcements in the newspaper. She was the President of the Nashville Improved Community Organization.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Lang of Nashville, Ohio, Cheryl (Charles Robert) Arwood of Wooster, Ohio, Diane Gilley of Holmesville, Ohio; grandchildren Matthew (Tina) Martin of Loudonville, Ohio, Melissa (Scott Wanner) Martin of North Dakota, Lucas (Monica) Martin of Fredericksburg, Ohio, Caleb (Kathleen) Martin of Tennessee, Roger (Heather Landon) Proper Jr. of Millersburg, Ohio, Michelle (Todd) Doty of Nashville, Ohio, Chad (Ashley) Dye of Orrville, Ohio, Joshua Gilley of Holmesville, Ohio, Rachel (Nathan Michael) Gilley of Holmesville, Ohio; great-grandchildren Hunter (Malorie) Martin of Ashland, Ohio, Bryar (Abigail) Martin of Millersburg, Ohio, Samantha (Martin Buren) Brannon of Shreve, Ohio, Kyle Brannon of Shreve, Ohio, Tyler Lowe of Kent, Ohio, Jennifer Lowe of Uhrichsville, Ohio, Cain, Macy, and Joci Martin of Fredericksburg, Ohio, Emerald and Mica Martin of Tennessee; great-great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Charlotte Martin, Gwenalynn, Howard, and Matthew Martin, Sophie and Mila Brannon, Alexandria and Raelynn Lowe, Camden Doty and Carsen Doty, Dale Ray Dye Strait, Tarren Gilley, Derranger Spurlock, Dillanger Spurlock, and Delila Spurlock; step great-grandchildren Conner (Hollie) Landon, Alec (Katherine Mestas) Landon, Blake (Emily Thomas) Doty, Brandon (Deanna Cable) Doty, and step great-great-grandchildren Reed, Izzy, and Brynn. She is also survived by special friends John Martin, Terry Saurer, Mary Stoh Snyder, Ken and Barb Strayer, Jim and Donna Woodyard, The Nashville Lunch Bunch Crew and The Berlin Heights Holiday Park Crew.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers Warren and Richard Heller and Victor Knecht; grandsons David Lang and Shannon Dye; and sons-in-law Larry Lang and Jason Gilley.
