Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on July 27, 2025.
He was born February 1, 1934, in Valparaiso Zacatecas, Mexico to Manuel and Manuela Zavala.
He married Ofelia Cardenas, the love of his life on November 27,1959, who he is now reunited with.
Despite the many hardships he encountered, he remained committed to caring for his family, consistently working hard to ensure they were provided for. One of his most heartfelt expressions of love was through his gift for cooking. Preparing homemade flour tortillas each week became a cherished tradition that brought the family together.
He is survived by his 8 children; Manuel & Patty Cardenas, Teresa Aguilar, Maria Elenda Cardenas & Ernesto Rodriquez, Martha & Emilio Sendejas. Marco Antonio & Libby Cardenas, Juan Carlos & Nancy Cardenas, Jose Alfredo Cardenas, Blanca Estela & Manuel Leon; 32 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 6-8 pm, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Burial will take place on Thursday, time to be announced.
