Sandra "Sandie" Lee (Abbott) Chaney, age 82 passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, July 17, 2025 at Community Hospital South. She was a resident of Johnson County for over 40 years.

Sandie was born August 16, 1942 in Indianapolis and was a 1960 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School. She married the love of her life, Ralph Eugene Chaney in 1971. Together they spent 53 devoted years of marriage before his passing in March 2024.

Sandie was a former member of the Gracepoint Church in New Whiteland. She found joy in league bowling as well as spending time writing poetry and songs. Her artistic spirit was also evident in her musical talents-she loved playing the organ, keyboard and accordion, and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, whose music held a special place in her heart. Sandie will be remembered most for her love of her dogs, whom she considered family, and her unyielding faith in God.

Sandie is survived by her sister, Jacqueline M. Ball of Indianapolis.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24th at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sandie to the Gracepoint Church "Benevolence Fund" 330 W. Whiteland Road New Whiteland, Indiana 46184
