Sandra Dee "Sandy" Hacker, 80, of Nevada, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Richard Dean "Dick" Hacker, at the City Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, MO. A memorial service celebrating Sandy's life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, with visitation at 12:00pm at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs, MO.
Born March 28, 1945, in Nevada, MO, Sandy was the daughter of the late Donald V. and Melba L. (Dennis) McPeak. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1963 and went on to attend Pittsburg State University for two years before marrying her first husband, Donald H. Hutchison. Together they raised two children, whom Sandy loved deeply and cherished throughout her life.
Sandy later met Dick Hacker in a serendipitous moment when his daughter, Deanna, passed along Sandy's number after reconnecting with her in the bank drive-thru where Sandy worked. Their first date was to a movie in Joplin, MO, and although Sandy was initially startled when Dick pulled up to the Holiday Inn, she was quickly reassured to find they had an excellent restaurant. Sandy and Dick were married on June 12, 1983, and lovingly combined their families.
Their shared love of travel took them from nearby getaways in Branson and the Lake of the Ozarks to international adventures in England, France, Canada, and Mexico. After Dick's passing, Sandy continued to explore the world with her children, including memorable trips to Mexico, Jamaica, and Michigan to visit her granddaughter, Kandra.
Sandy's favorite hobby was photography. She found great joy in capturing moments with her family and preserving memories through her lens. Her career included work in real estate and as an appraiser before she transitioned to banking, where she served as a branch manager and loan officer. She once endured a terrifying bank robbery but remained calm and unharmed. She later retired as a school secretary at Truman Elementary School in Nevada, MO.
Family was at the center of Sandy's life. She adored her grandchildren and loved hosting sleepovers filled with dress-up games and pretend school, always immersing herself fully in their world and creating treasured memories, many of which involved uncontrolled fits of laughter.
Her deep and unwavering faith in God was the foundation of her life, especially during her journey with cancer. Sandy lived with quiet confidence, grounded in the assurance that her Savior walked beside her through every season. She often spoke of heaven not with fear but with hope, knowing she would be welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus. We find peace in knowing she is now home-whole, joyful, and in the presence of the One she trusted most.
Sandy is survived by her brother, Randall Scott (Marty) McPeak of Sheldon, MO; her children, Michael (Andrea) Hutchison of Kansas City, MO, and Christine (Chris) Goddard of Nevada, MO; stepchildren: Doug (Sharri) Hacker of Kansas City, MO, Rhonda (Brian) Leonard of Nevada, MO, and Deanna (Doug) Kennedy of Monett, MO; grandchildren: Kandra, Mikayla, and Alyssa Hutchison, Troy Gounev, Hannah and Poppy Goddard, Erin (Jason) Hunt, Ethan (Sydney) Kennedy, Brice (Taryn) Leonard, Melinda (Tyler) Young, and Jessica (Josh) Tucker; great-grandchildren, Emma and Eli Hunt, Boston Leonard, Max and Isaac Young, Riley, Cameron, and Jocelyn Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; her brothers, Donald Ray McPeak and Terry Keith McPeak; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn V. (Reed) McPeak.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Vernon County Cancer Relief.
