Sanford Cummings, 83, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at his home.

Born April 22, 1942, in Dillon County, SC, he was a son of the late Randolph and Willer Oxendine Cummings. He retired from Powell Manufacturing Company and was the co-owner of Cummings Brothers Co. Mr. Sanford served in the United States Army and the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of the McColl Church of God. Sanford enjoyed watching old westerns. He dearly loved his family, his land, and his cat, Tabby.

He is survived by his son, Dylan Shane Johnson of McColl; daughters, Amy Norris of Laurinburg, NC, Shannon Cummings (Michael) of Laurinburg, NC, Rene Cummings of McColl, and Lynn Cummings of McColl, and special daughter, Daylan; brothers, R.C. Cummings of McColl, Carl Clark of Indianapolis, and Wilbert Strong (Mary) of Rowland; sisters, Frances Helms of McColl, Zadie Mae Linendoll of McColl and Mary Berry of Latta; grandchildren, Joey, Dalton, Keith, Smurf, Sasha, Trey, Jessica, Thomas, Rose, and Joshua; 36 great grandchildren; and good friend, John Henry Caulder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ella Scott Cummings; son, Randy Johnson; brothers, Jack Cummings, Columbus Cummings, Lindbergh Cummings, Arlee Cummings, and Woodrow Clark; and sister, Edith Carrier.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at the McColl Church of God, burial with Military Honors will follow in Rogers Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the church.
