Sarah Madeline Blacksten, age 82, of Versailles, passed away July 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born October 13, 1942, in California, Missouri, a daughter of the late Fred W. and Katherine R. (Meyer) Brown.
She was married to Ronald Dean Blacksten, Sr. and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2014.
Sarah enjoyed spending time crocheting. Most of all, she loved her family and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her children, Michael Patrick Glass, Robert Lee Glass and wife Rhonda, James A. Glass and wife Joyce, Ronnie Dean Blacksten, Jr. and wife Lillian, Roger Alan Blacksten and Dena Sue Ellis and husband Clarence; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald Brown and wife Terry; sister, Beverly Ashley and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Blacksten, brothers, Lyle Brown, Ray Brown and Michael Brown and her sisters, Charlene Shreck and Serena Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 9th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Jason Ashley officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery near Barnett. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
