Sarah Jurak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edgley Cremation Services - West Palm Beach on Oct. 22, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Sarah (Foster) Jurak, 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 8, 2025, in Lake Worth, Florida. She was born on July 1, 1953, in Fayette County, West Virginia, to George Edward and Opal Geraldine Foster.

Sarah's life was marked by faith, compassion, and a deep desire for others to know the love of Jesus. She began her career as a nurse in 1975, caring for countless people with gentleness and strength. Her love of learning led her to earn a Ph.D. in Engineering in 2018, and later, she followed a spiritual calling to become a reverend with the Church of God in 2024.

Sarah's faith was never something she kept to herself-it overflowed into everything she did. She loved worshiping God with flags and dance, and she inspired others to do the same. One Easter, she taught the children in her church a joyful dance and handmade flags for each of them, helping them celebrate the resurrection with color and movement.

She also found joy in God's creation, tending her plants and butterfly garden with care and delight. But her greatest earthly joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them and never hesitated to travel long distances to show her love-once driving five hours to watch a robotics competition, just to cheer them on.

Those who knew Sarah will remember her passion, her honesty, and her bright spirit. She felt deeply and loved deeply-her joy was radiant, her laughter infectious, and her humor unforgettable. Her family will long remember her favorite sayings: "It's a meal!" when she spilled food, "I resemble that!" when teased, and her good-natured "I'm so abused!" when surrounded by laughter and love.

Family stories will be told for years about how a single blinking red light could keep her awake all night, or how lightly touching her left arm could make her stop mid-sentence-something that both amused and exasperated her in equal measure. These small, funny quirks capture the heart of who she was: lively, expressive, and always fully herself.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, George and Opal Foster, and her brother, Charles Foster. She is survived by her husband, Emil Jurak; her children, Miriam (William) Savage and Joseph Jurak; her sister, Laura Foster; nieces Tiffany Foster and Emily Toney; nephews Kenneth Toney and James Jurak; and her beloved grandchildren, Rebekah, Peter, Ruth, and Paul Savage.

Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and joy. Sarah's greatest hope was that others would come to know Jesus and experience His love as she did.

A celebration of Sarah's life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rolling Hills Church of God in Wichita, Kansas. All who knew and loved Sarah are warmly invited to attend.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family will first gather at Vaughn Baptist Church in Vaughn, West Virginia, to share memories and celebrate Sarah's life. Afterward, a brief committal service and burial will follow at Walker Memorial Cemetery and Gardens in Summersville, West Virginia.

Flowers are welcome, as Sarah so loved beauty and color.
