Satish Chandra
Satish Chandra, 93, of Orange, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025 in his home. He was the loving husband of Shaila Chandra. Satish was born on March 2, 1932 in Dhanaura, Moradabad district (now Amroha District), Uttar Pradesh, India, to Sagarmal Garg and Shakuntala Devi. He was predeceased by sisters Shradha, Savita, and Surabhi and brothers Subhash and Sudesh. He is survived by his sisters Suntosh and Snehlata and brother Sunil (Neal). The Chandra family would like to thank Tony of Visiting Angels and Clara and Julia of Constellation Health Services for making Satish's life more comfortable.
Satish also leaves behind his children, sons Prashant (Manu) and Anant (Anu), daughter-in-law Michele, and grandchildren Alexandra and Kira.
Satish received a Bachelor of Arts, Combined (Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics) from the University of Delhi in 1951, a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Delhi in 1953, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lucknow in 1956, an LLM from Yale Law School in 1960 and a JSD from Yale Law School in 1962.
After completing his studies in New Haven, he returned to India, where he married the former Shaila Garg in 1963 and had sons Prashant (married to Michele and father of Alexandra and Kira) in 1964 and Anant in 1966. He returned to the United States in 1967 to take a faculty position at the University of New Haven, where he taught Law & International Business for three decades, along with teaching at other universities in the area. In 2016 Satish was awarded the rank of Professor Emeritus. He also served one term on the Board of Education of the Amity Regional District #5 in the early 2000s. He lived in the town of Orange, Connecticut, for 55 years.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A private family procession will follow.
