Shirley Joanne Rowe, a beloved figure to all who knew her, passed away on August 8, 2025, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Born on January 28, 1944, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, she was a beacon of kindness and joy, touching the lives of many throughout her 81 years.
Known affectionately as "Granny," Shirley cultivated a career that spanned working at Blockbuster and McDonald's, where her infectious spirit and ability to connect with people made her a cherished presence. She had a unique gift for making others feel special, embodying a philosophy of love and generosity that shone through every encounter. Shirley never met a stranger; her warmth and openness made anyone who crossed her path feel welcomed and valued.
Shirley’s faith was paramount in her life, and she placed her love for Jesus at the forefront of all she did. This devotion was reflected in her daily actions, as she spread happiness wherever she went. Whether she was singing or dancing, enjoying a good book, or delving into the pages of her beloved Bible, she exuded joy and gratitude, nurturing a deep connection with those around her.
Her family, who will carry her memory with profound love, includes her devoted husband, Raymond Rowe Sr., along with their children: Diana Rowe Crawley and her husband Flint of Arvada, Colorado; Kathie Cox of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Raymond Rowe Jr. and his wife Teresa of Denver, Colorado; Anita "Chris" Rowe of Arvada, Colorado; Shari Rowe of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; and Johnny Rowe of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Shirley's legacy continues through her grandchildren—Rachel, Bethany, Nathan, Megan, Stetson, Madison, Journey, and Aaron—and her great-grandchildren: Kaydence, Ryland, Brady, Hayden, Tucker, Tamzyn, Legacy, Gwenivere, Aspyn, and Roman. Each one will cherish the stories and love she bestowed upon them.
Shirley is also survived by her sister-in-law, Annabelle, whose presence added to the tapestry of family bonds she fostered with love.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Piddle and Martha Jones; her siblings, Patricia, Marvin, Ada, and Alice "Toad"; and her grandson Bobby, who remains forever in the hearts of those who loved him. Their memories serve as a reminder of the deep connections that define family and community.
As we remember Shirley Joanne Rowe, we honor a life lived with purpose and a heart that overflowed with love. Her laughter, her faith, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of humanity will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, bringing people together with her kindness and genuine spirit. Though she may be gone from our sight, Shirley will forever dwell in our hearts.
