Surrounded by her brother and his family, Sharon "Shar" Ann Armstrong of Birnamwood took her last earthly breath and peacefully entered eternity on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19th, 2025, in the Palliative Care Unit of Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Shar was born in West Allis, Wisconsin on April 9, 1943, to Louis "Boots" Armstrong and Florence Pleshek Armstrong. She joined her older brother, Don, to complete the Armstrong Family.
Growing up, Shar and her family lived in West Allis until their move to the Birnamwood area where she was involved in the family business, Neighbors Inn. Following her graduation from Birnamwood High School in 1961, Shar moved to Milwaukee where she became a hair stylist. She continued serving her many clients before retiring in 2024 and moving back to her roots in Birnamwood.
Shar was thrilled to become an aunt to her nephew and niece, showering them with love and thoughtful gifts throughout their lives. When her nephew's children were born, this tradition continued – no one gave better or more welcomed gifts than "Santa" Shar.
Shar's past times included: supporting the Brewers and Packers, trips to the casino, and frequent visits back to Birnamwood to be with her family and many friends. Shar was an avid Elvis fan, collecting his memorabilia and listening to his music, even to the day of her passing.
We will miss her sass, her quick wit, her teasing, and her youthful spirit. Sharon was an impeccable dresser, always wearing the latest flattering fashions, complete with head-to-toe accessories.
Shar is survived by her brother, Don and his wife, Judy, her nephew and his wife, Troy and Michelle Armstrong of Wausau, her niece, Tara Armstrong of Wausau, her great niece, Grace, and her great nephew, Logan. Shar was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Florence Armstrong, and her dear friend, Joni Hasmuk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Father Vincente Llagas will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
