It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of their beloved daughter, mother and grandmother, Sharon Lynn Barkley Carter, on July 7, 2025. She was born January 10, 1953 in Houston, Texas to Doyle Henry Barkley and Louise Johnson Barkley.
While her children were young, she worked as an office manager for Dr. Pulin Pandya in Houston, Texas and when the family moved to Huntsville, Texas, she worked for Dr. Mhreteab Gebre-Selassie for several years. From there she went on to take the Director position at the Huntsville Memorial Clinic and then did clerical work for UTMB at the Polunski Unit. Sharon loved to fish and go camping. Her children have fond memories of all the animals they had growing up. Sharon loved all animals and sometimes it seemed as though they had enough different kinds to have a petting zoo. She leaves behind her most recent beloved fur babies, Lacie and Sadie, whom she adored. Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her mother Louise Johnson Barkley; her sons Randy Wilson (Devon Wilson), Dustin Carter (Tara Carter) and Chad Carter; grandchildren Ryder Wilson, Georgia Carter, Dalton Carter, Houston Carter and Corbin Carter, and uncle Wayne Johnson. She is preceded in death by her father Doyle Henry Barkley.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest following services at Petree Cemetery. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at www.shmfh.com.
