Sharon Lee (Wolfe) Crowder passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2025, at the age of 88, in the company of her loving husband Charles Crowder and daughter Lee Ann. During her long illness she maintained her grace, kindness and appreciation to all who cared for her and loved her.
Sharon lived a long life full of wonderful experiences. She was born in Dunbar, West Virginia to parents Opha “Skoach” and Alma Grace Wolfe, as a Christmas Eve baby, in the year of 1936. She was an only child but grew up with her best friend Wanda “Pete” who quickly became like a sister to her and they remained truly lifelong friends.
At the early age of 17, just before graduating from Dunbar High School, she fell in love and married her husband Charles, who was serving in the US Air Force. That March day marked the beginning of the many phases of her life as a military wife, mother, homemaker, interior decorator, Revlon consultant, Retail Manager, Financial Services Consultant and Artist. They traveled the country although there were times when Charles was overseas. Still, she gracefully, effortlessly and selflessly managed home, work and family. Together they had 3 children, Kenneth Loren, Valerie Lynn and Lee Ann, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Later, when Sharon retired, she had to keep active and got involved in many fraternal organizations supporting veterans and others in need. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Elks, Moose and American Legion. She was always ready to help wherever needed including acting as “head chef” for Friday night dinners. She enjoyed her social time with her new fraternal friends and loved karaoke night. Her favorite song she would sing was “Could I Have This Dance” by Anne Murray and was a fitting accolade for her life well lived and her many “magic moments”. Sharon also found her passion for painting. She became a self-taught acrylic landscape artist and enjoyed putting brush to canvas reliving the amazing places she had visited over the years.
Sharon Lee Crowder will remain in the hearts of so many people that she touched throughout her long life. Although our hearts may be broken now that she is gone…
We’ll always remember the song you were playing….
