Sharon (Sherry) Lee Tilander, Fernley, NV formerly Ray, MN.
Sherry passed away at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada on February 18, 2025, with her loving sisters, Marty Hanna and Molly Fritz-Beckers by her side.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Joanne Jarvis, and her husband Wilbur Tilander. She is survived by her sisters, Marty Hanna and Molly Fritz-Beckers; her son, Karvin (Tammy) Tilander; her grandsons, Christopher (Leah) Tilander and Aaron Tilander; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sherry was born, September 12, 1942 in Columbus Ohio where she grew up and lived until moving to Minnesota. They met in Columbus, Ohio when Wilbur was stationed at the Army Depot there. When it was time Sherry made the journey by herself driving from Columbus, Ohio to Ray, Minnesota to marry Wilbur where they would start their life as husband and wife. Once she arrived she was welcomed by Wilbur's very large family as well as the friendly community.
There were many things that she enjoyed, such as her very large garden that she planted each year, picking the blueberries, watching the flowers brighten the yard as well as watching all of the wildlife that would come around the house and you could watch them. She also made beautiful quilts and was a wonderful seamstress. She made many friends that have lasted a very long time. She is known for her wonderful cooking and baking. You were always greeted with a smile at the door whenever you showed up. She always made sure that you were not hungry when you left.
After Wilbur passed away, taking care of the home and everything outside it became to much. She decided to take one more big adventure and move to Fernley, Nevada to live with her sister Marty. She became very involved with the community there and still continued to keep up her wonderful cooking and baking skills. While living with Marty they went many places on adventures and trips and she enjoyed every minute of that.
So now, we are here to celebrate Sherry and her great life she had. As we have this memorial service/celebration of life, July 28, 2025, on this day, they would be celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary together. To honor that their ashes have been buried side by side and they will be together for eternity.
The Memorial Service/Celebration of life is scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Northwoods Bible Church in Ray, MN. Refreshments will follow after the service at the church.
Interment will be at the Ray Cemetery.
