Sharron Miles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chagnon Funeral Home Inc. on Jul. 6, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Sharron Lee Miles, age 73, died at McLaren Hospital in Flint on July 3, 2025. One of five children born to Frank and Edna Hillis, she was born in Port Huron on April 10, 1952, and was raised in Northern Michigan.
It was while Sharron was at the county fair having fun with her girlfriends that she met Rich Miles. After some hesitation, she agreed to go on a date with him. They married on May 22, 1970, in Muskegon and made their home in Tower. Throughout her life, Sharron worked as a certified nurse's aide at Green Meadows Nursing home in Cheboygan and at Russell Memorial Hospital in Onaway. She eventually went on the road with Rich spending summers working in the ticket booth alongside her best friend, Doug Schmidt. And though she was away from her family at home she gained the Schmidt Amusements and Anderson Midways families who she nurtured in that motherly way she was so good at.
Sharron enjoyed doing crafts with her grandchildren, needlepoint, and Diamond Art. She was an avid reader and enjoyed putting puzzles together. She had an entire room of Wizard of Oz memorabilia she collected over the years and still loved the Beatles as much as she did when she was a teenager. An excellent cook and baker, Sharron made the most delicious homemade cinnamon rolls. She collected recipes, picked berries for jam, freezing, and canning, and loved tending to her flowers.
Sharron's family was always the center of her world. She was close with her parents, enjoyed a wonderful sibling bond with her sisters and brother, and was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an awesome babysitter to her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and developed a special connection with each of them. Sharron's door was always open, and her home was often filled with kids. A "mom" to everyone, she helped raise so many kids that weren't her own and loved every minute of it.
Supportive, generous, helpful, nurturing, and selfless, Sharron put everyone before herself. She was kind and caring, but if you crossed the line with her, she would quickly put you in your place. She was so much fun with her sassy attitude, spunk, and fantastic sense of humor. She put her faith in God and was incredibly strong through the hardships she faced throughout her life. She was amazing and will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sharron is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rich Miles of Tower; daughters, Jeanne Miles of Newberry, Kathy Beebe of Wisconsin, and Sherry Miles (Ervin Vieau) of Cheboygan; son, Richie (Brandi) Miles of Tower; her grandchildren, Jason (Carmen), Frankie (Jesse), and Paige; as well as her great grandchildren, Julian, Gage, Mason, Axel, Quinten, Vance, Kenslee, Ember, and Paisley. Sharon also leaves her brother, Jerry (Sally) Hillis of Onaway; sisters, Vicky Covell of Tower and Linda (Gary) Prow of Onaway; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Susan Richey, and her faithful companion, Ozzie.
A celebration of life will be held at Tower Hall on Tuesday July 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a short service beginning at 5:00 PM. Elder Marcia Pauly will officiate. Sharron's final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tower.
