Sherry Lynn Egolf passed away on the 5th of July, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on March 14, 1958, in Modesto, California, Sherry grew into a remarkable individual, touching the lives of all who knew her. She passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sherry's life was one marked by dedication and service, as evidenced by her commendable career in the United States Army from which she retired with honors. Her commitment to her country was paralleled only by her commitment to her faith, as she lived a life exemplifying the Christian values, she held dear.
Survived by her life partner, Emma Jean Anderson, Sherry's legacy of love and strength lives on through her two daughters, Brenda Combs, married to James Kennion, and Linda Gallagher partnered with Gary Cruce. She was a sister to three brothers, Robert Madden, Jack Williams, and Chuck Bates, all of whom will remember her for her unwavering spirit and generous heart.
Sherry was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: David, Shannon, Michael, and James Combs, Robert Anderson, and James Gallagher. Her joy was further multiplied with the birth of her eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought a sparkle to her eye and an undeniable pride to her soul.
Though her formal education culminated in her high school graduation, Sherry was a lifelong learner, continuously seeking out knowledge and wisdom in all aspects of life. Her inquisitive nature and sharp intellect were as much a part of her as her unyielding courage.
Her life was a testament to the strength of womanhood, the honor of service, and the depth of familial love. Sherry's presence was a beacon of hope and resilience, inspiring all those fortunate enough to cross her path. She approached each day with a sense of purpose and a heart full of faith, leaving an indelible mark on the world.
As we bid farewell to Sherry Lynn Egolf, we remember a woman of valor, a patriot, a believer, and a cornerstone of her family. Her spirit will forever guide and comfort those she has left behind, serving as a reminder of the beauty and strength found in a life well-lived. Sherry's story does not end with her passing but continues in the memories we hold and the love she shared. Rest in peace, Sherry; your legacy will endure.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2;30 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
