Shirley Kathleen Carpenter Allen, born on January 17, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away on July 11, 2025, at the age of 74. A resident of Annville, Kentucky, Shirley was the daughter of the late Sherman Carpenter and Mary Gabbard Carpenter. She was married to Edward Lee Richardson of Hamilton, Ohio and later to Robert Steve Allen, who preceded her in death.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Edward Wayne Richardson and his wife Rebecca of Annville, and Eddie Lee Richardson and his wife Cindy of London, Kentucky. She also leaves behind her brother, Harold Edward Carpenter and his wife Pauline of McKee, Kentucky, along with sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her sons, Ivan Lee Richardson and Christopher Allen, and six siblings, Rita Fae Carpenter, Doritha Annette Carpenter, Marylan Lou Isaacs and her husband Willie, Sharon Sue Carpenter, Bobby Loid Carpenter and his wife Marty, and Henry Lee Carpenter and his wife Linda.
Shirley retired as a nurse's assistant and was a member of the Baptist Faith. Her life was a testament to her dedication to her family and her faith.
The funeral service for Shirley Kathleen Carpenter Allen will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Roberts and Terry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Swiss Colony Cemetery in London.
The family of Shirley Allen will receive friends beginning at 11 am Wednesday until the funeral hour of 1 pm at Bowling Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Richardson, Eddie Richardson, Dillion Richardson, Harold Carpenter, Chris Crump and William Crump.
