It is with great sadness that we announce Shirley Margaret Blanchard has been blessed with her angel wings. Shirley was 90 years old and passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025 in Manteca, CA. Shirley was born on July 31st, 1934 to her parents Fred and Margaret Lope. Shirley was the oldest of three and grew up in Berkley, CA.
Shirley and Ed were married on August 19th 1995 in a beautiful ceremony on the San Francisco Bay where their son-in-law Fred Alexander officiated the wedding surrounded by the love of their families. Shirley loved spending time with her family where she especially loved listening to Ed play live music. She also loved taking her grandchildren to Macy's where she loved to sample every perfume by spraying them on all the kids. This made the kids smell absolutely lovely by the time they got home. Additionally, some grandchildren referred to her as "Grandma with the Blue Apron" as she always had it on while cooking. Shirley was an American Patriot. She was extremely proud of Ed's her grandchildren's military service. Her house was always decorated with American Flags. Her favorite season was fall where she loved the orange, yellow and brown colors, as well as sunflowers. Shirley was a foxy Grandma and classy lady. She never missed the chance for 5 O'clock wine with her friend, Bonnie. Shirley was a very special woman who was full of compassion and understanding. Her laughter would light up a room and lift up the hearts of those around her.
She leaves behind her "SIL" Joan Lope. Her children; Margaret Andrews, Michael Langum (Alexandra), Diane Alexander and Marie Blanchard. Her grandchildren; Catherine Rurans (Gary), Rebecka Maxkenzie (Katie), Trevor Langum (Taylor), John Andrews Jr. (Janel), Jennifer Rose (Kevin), Kelly Casella (Alexander), Jennifer Huffman (Dustin) and Jessica Nichols (Joey). Her great-grandchildren; Nathan, Connor, Finley, Eleanor, Jax, Grayson, Janice, Emily, Owen, Lindsay, Jamie, Joseph, Max, Maegan, Nicolas, Ryan, Joshua, Emily, Caleb, Jocelynne, Mason, Aliana and Abriella.
In heaven she joins her beloved husband, Ed Blanchard. Along with her parents Fred and Margaret Lope, her two brother's Fred Lope and Richard Lope, her son Robert Langum and her son-in-law's John Andrews and Fred Alexander.
Her gravesite service will be held on July 17, 2025 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA at 11am. Reception to follow.
Shirley is deeply missed and will live on in the fondest memories of her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
