Shirley Johnson, age 90 of Algona, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Algona Manor Care Center. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12 at the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audobon, Iowa.
Shirley Ann Johnson, the daughter of John Edwin and Gertrude Freda (Knoell) Eiben, was born on February 16, 1934 in Allen, Nebraska. She graduated from Viola High School in 1951 as the Valedictorian of her class. On December 9, 1951, Shirley was united in marriage to Darrell Johnson in Audubon, Iowa. Shirley was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Algona. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1951 and in the Federated Women's Club. Shirley enjoyed camping with family and traveling. She traveled to all 50 states and all 99 counties in Iowa. One thing that Shirley was very proud of was her flowers.
Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her children, Iris (Dennis) Erdmann of Algona, Gene (Jody) Johnson of Mapleton, Dorueen (Mark) Kemna of West Bend, and Terry (Eileen) Johnson of Milford; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Lyle (Darline) Eiben and Jerry (Linda) Eiben; and sisters-in-law, Mary Eiben and Ruth Eiben.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude; husband, Darrell; infant child, James Edwin; brothers, Norman, Ardell, and Duane (Marilyn) Eiben; sisters, Jeanette (Bill) Haskins, Alberta (Willard "Dude") Lyons, and Thelma (Bob) Anderson; and sister-in-law, Jan Eiben.
