In loving memory of Shirley Ragan, a woman of grace and fortitude. Born on September 25, 1943, Shirley's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on July 3, 2025, at the age of 81. Shirley's life, though marked by trials, was a testament to resilience and unwavering love.
She spent her formative years attending Kingston Springs High School, where she embraced the value of education, though circumstances prevented her from graduating. Despite this, Shirley's thirst for knowledge never waned, and she imparted the importance of learning to her children.
Shirley's legacy lives on through her beloved children, Kathy Philips, Marlyn (James) Norton, and Doris May, her grandchildren: Barbara Howell, Glenn Curtis Parks Jr., Shirley Marie Kiratsous, Stephano Anothony Kiratsous, William (Georgie Miller) Darrell Taylor II, her great grandchildren: Destiny Jaskowski, William C. George Miller, Erica Parks; her siblings: Billy Rae Cathey, Charles Cathey, Benny Cathey, Linda Cathey, Micky Cathey, Rita Stanley, Barbara Cathey and close friend: Corey Miller AKA Coco. These treasures were the light of her life, and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing them, instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance that she held dear. She was preceded in death by her former husband: Charlie C. Howell, one grandson: Michael Anthony Parks and one sister: Lulla May Cathey in infancy.
Born to Benjamin Franklin Clayton Cathey and Georgie Lee Cathey, Shirley was a daughter who brought joy and pride to her family. Her upbringing laid the foundation for the compassionate and steadfast woman she became, embodying the virtues of loyalty and dedication in every aspect of her life.
Throughout her 81 years, Shirley faced challenges with unwavering strength and an unshakeable faith. Her unwavering spirit and gentle nature touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the world around her.
Though Shirley's journey has come to an end, her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she brought into the lives of so many.
