Shirley Darlene Spears, 82, of Somerset, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 at Somerset Nursing & Rehab.
She was born in Eubank, Kentucky on June 6, 1943; daughter of the late Elbert Otis and Beatrice (young) Spears. She was a member of Pitman Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her two step-daughters, Becky Harvey and Sandra Clappse; grandchildren, James, Dawn, Kristina, Jamie, Brandy, step-grandchildren, Samantha Rowe and Wendy Barrett; two cousins, Mark & (Kathy) Spears and Fonda Vanhoook; fourteen great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis & Beatrice Spears, her daughter, Gena Collins; son, James Dennis Dowlen; brother, Alvin Wade Spears; great-granddaughters, Natalia Alvarado, and Ava Gunn; and a grandson, Caleb Collins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Baker officiating.
Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 11:30 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2025 until time for services.
