Silas Jackson "S J" McDonald, 89, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully entered his eternal home late Monday, October 20, 2025, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
S J is survived by his loving wife, Janie "Libby" Elizabeth McDonald, and their three children: Greg McDonald (Lisa), Jan O'Steen (Doug), and Angela M. Clark (Russell). As a devoted grandfather, he took great pride in his four grandchildren—Sarah O'Steen, Seth O'Steen (Madison), Morgan McDonald, and Kelly McDonald—who brought him immense joy and happiness. He also leaves behind his sister, Iris Padgett, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family; his church family and friends.
S J was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie Arrington McDonald and John "Royce" McDonald Sr., along with his siblings: Jerrell McDonald Sr., Sybil Etterle, and Mac McDonald.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening, October 23, 2025 at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday afternoon, October 24, 2025, in the Wrens Church of God with Rev. Jason Burton officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Seth O’Steen, Marty Amerson, Pat Bell, Anthony Clark, Jason Milburn and Robbie Prescott. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the church, Herman Germany, C W Stone, Jimmie Lee Stone, and Roosevelt Tremble.
S J’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
