Simone Bourgoyne Obituary

Simone passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 90. She was a resident of Port Allen and native of Nancy, France. Simone was a faith-filled loving wife of 59 years to Elliot Bourgoyne; mother and grandmother who put family first, had a great love for her grandchildren and had a passion for cooking. Simone attended Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the adoration chapel. She retired from the West Baton Rouge Parish School System Food Services where she managed the Port Allen Elementary Cafeteria.
Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Saturday, July 19th, from 9:30 to 11:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen at 12:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin. Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Brusly.
Simone is survived by her sister, Genevieve Chism; daughter, Daphne Schaefer (John); son, Phillip Bourgoyne (Debra); six grandchildren, Chelsea Tackett (Ryan), Marissa Schein (John), Patrick (Mary), Michael, Samuel and Grace Bourgoyne and four great grandchildren Eleanor Schein and Delaney, Owen, and Cora Tackett. Simone was preceded in death by her husband, Elliot Bourgoyne, parents, Fernand and Marguerite Kneppert, and siblings Gerard Kneppert (Jacqueline) and Monique Dussart (Claude). Our special thanks go to Simone's caregivers, Cassie Kimball, Olive Jarreau, Dana Babin and Fanny McClain. In addition, we are grateful for the wonderful care from her physician, Dr. Philip Padgett and Audubon Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Port City Enterprise.
