Sims Barnes Peel, 75, of Newberry, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home.
Born on September 19, 1949, in Bonifay, FL, he was a son of the late Marcel and Brusiue Everett Peel. Sims was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Newberry Exchange Club. Sims enjoyed camping and fishing and found great pleasure in sitting on his porch. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lester Peel; sons, Jay (Robin) Peel of Prosperity, Russell (April) Peel of Newberry and Jonathan Peel of Chapin; sisters, Charlotte Peel and Lois Emberton; a brother, Toney Peel; grandchildren, Jayden (Andrew) Ball, Reagan Peel, Cason Peel and Riley Peel; a great-granddaughter, Avery James Ball and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sims was predeceased by his first wife, Judy Peel, a son, Chaney Peel and a brother, Christopher Peel.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2025, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Sound System Fund, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
