Graveside services for Socorro Cruz, age 67 of Hobbs, New Mexico and formerly of Seagraves, Texas, will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Gaines County Cemetery, Seagraves, with burial to follow. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Socorro Cruz was born in Kermit, Texas on April 16, 1958 to Manuela (Lara) and Pablo Garcia. She was a Christian and was baptized in Kennedy, Texas. Socorro was better known as Coco. Although she worked a variety of jobs, she was primarily a homemaker. She was a hard-working woman no matter where she was working or what she was doing. Socorro was a funny and loving woman with a great attitude; she always had a smile on her face. She was very close to her family, especially with her brother and siblings, and her grandchildren were precious to her. She adored watching hummingbirds, and her dogs were very dear to her. In her spare time, she loved to crochet. Socorro was a strong woman and a real fighter; she fought her illness all the way. She enjoyed taking photos of her family and loved her home remedies.

Socorro Cruz passed away May 2, 2025 at Lovington Health Care Center in Lovington, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by both parents and one sister. Socorro is survived by two sons, Ralph Prieto and Juan Prieto, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; by four brothers, Fred Garcia of Seagraves, Paul Garcia and wife Olga of Odessa, Texas, Armando Garcia and wife Anna of Seagraves, and Arturo Garcia and wife Brenda of Seagraves; four sisters, Elsa Rosas and Jenniefer Garcia, both of Seagraves, Maricela Garcia of Utah, and Manuellita Garcia and husband Juan of Brady, Texas; and five grandchildren.
