Sonja Darlene Arnold, 81, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Sonja dedicated her entire adult life towards serving the Lord. She is most known for her gospel albums and many people have fond memories of listening to her sing. Sonja traveled around the United States singing and ministering. She felt incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to do so. Later in life, when her health prevented her from ministering outside of the home, she created a YouTube channel called "Sonja's Sermonettes" to pour encouragement into others. Her proudest accomplishment was hosting a podcast that her son, Kevin, produced called "Out Here On the Farm." It gave her immense pleasure to recount stories of her youth and her love for the farm life.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Hartnell and wife, Christina Alfieri of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter, Therese "Reecee" Hartnell; daughter Edina Hartnell and husband Layth Samir Al Bilal of Muscat, Oman; a neice/special daughter, Tracy Hunt; and two daughters from other mothers, Shea and Lightning. She is also survived by her grandchildren Israel Hartnell, Erina Moore, Lexus Rudder Hartnell, Gabriella Hartnell, MJ Hartnell, Ayvn Hartnell and Shara Hartnell. She also has a host of Arnold nieces and nephews and Hartnell family members she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jeanette (Arbuckle) Arnold, her sisters, Goldie Baylis and Vivian Ackman, brothers, Earl Leat, Paul Dean Arnold, Robert Arnold, Lynn Arnold, Douglas Arnold, Marvin Arnold and Roswell Arnold. She was also preceded in death by a precious grandson, born sleeping, Artemis Hartnell, which she looked forward to meeting in Heaven.
In accordance with Sonja's wishes, no public services will be held at this time. Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Centralia is honored to serve the family. To leave condolences online, please visit www.maxtonrosado.com or call 618-532-7321 for more information.
