Stanley Parker Obituary

Stanley Joseph Parker, 73, of Winooski, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on July 23, 1951, in Burlington, Vermont, Stan was the son of Lawrence "Sonny" Parker and Christine Lillian (Lucia) Parker. He was a graduate of Burlington High School.
Stan married Alice M. Deforge, in 1973. Stan's strong work ethic began early, assisting his father at Wilson Trucking as a teenager. He later worked at Myers Taxi and Vermont Furniture, where he met Alice. His longest tenure was at the University of Vermont, where he dedicated over 39 years of service before retiring.
Stan was known for his vivid hunting stories, his cherished time spent on the porch and in the garden, and his deep appreciation for the local wildlife. Above all, he found joy in the company of his family and his close-knit circle of friends especially his "coffee cronies," with whom he shared years of daily laughs, camaraderie, and storytelling over countless cups of coffee.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Deforge) Parker; his daughters, Danielle Kane (Jay) and Chantal Bitzer (Kregg); and his cherished grandchildren, Parker and Titus, who adored their Papa Stan. He also leaves behind his siblings, Diane Blaise and Emmett Parker, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Dwight, Larry, and Peter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Thursday, July 24, at 1:30pm, with burial to follow at St Francis Xavier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers because, as Stan often reminded us, he hated flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
