Stanley Rohrer Obituary

In Loving Memory of Stanley Rohrer 1930-2025

Stanley Eugene Rohrer, W9FQN, passed away at the age of 95. Born in 1930 in Wakarusa, Indiana, Stan lived there until age 40. He earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and a master's from the University of Notre Dame. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a radio engineer.

At 39, Stan married Barbara Phillips Rohrer. Together they raised two daughters while living on an avocado ranch in Valley Center. Stan taught math, ranched full-time, and remained an active leader in amateur radio. Even in his later years, Stan's determined spirit led him to kayak and play tennis as a double amputee, and at age 90 he skydived with his daughter-an adventure featured on the CBS Morning Show.

Stan is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Susan Shea and Linda Rohrer; and nieces and nephews Ken Rohrer, Wendell Rohrer, James Rohrer, Amanda Durell, Kathy Frazier, and Angela Foresman.
