Stella “Tillie” (Musser) Smith Albertson, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025. A visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Palo United Methodist Church, 118 Clinton Street, Palo, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Private burial will take place at Palo Cemetery in Palo. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Tillie was born on June 7, 1930, in Central City, Iowa, to Ervin and Lucinda (Corn) Musser. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Kirkwood Community College. On January 31, 1948, she married Warren E. Smith in Cedar Rapids. They were married for 48 years before he preceded her in death in 1996. Tillie worked as an operator at Square D for 30 years until her retirement. On January 13, 2001, she married Thomas Albertson in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Tillie was a long-time member of Palo United Methodist Church and was active in many groups, including the Shriners Hospital Auxiliary, Owl Group, Tillie’s Girls, Ellis Golf League, Fountain of the Sun Country Club in Mesa, Arizona, and the Square D Birthday Club. She enjoyed travels to Myrtle Beach and spent 20 wonderful winters in Mesa, Arizona. No matter where Tillie went, she had a gift for making friends.
Survivors include her sons, Steven (Nadine) Smith of Walker, Iowa, and Douglas (Stephanie) Smith of Clive, Iowa; three grandchildren, Sean (Lisa) Smith of Ames, Iowa, Stacia Smith (Clint) of Walker, and Ryan Smith of Miami Beach, Florida; greatgrandchildren, Spencer Fruechte (Kandice), Ben Smith, and Alex Smith; step-greatgrandchild, Christian (Bridget) Jones; one great-great-granddaughter, Hazel Rose Fruechte; and special niece, Janine Wasson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Lucinda Musser; her first husband, Warren E. Smith; her second husband, Thomas Albertson; daughter, Jolene Marie Smith; twin sisters, Arlene and Darlene; and brother, Ed.
Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Camp Courageous.
