Dr. Stephen Andrew Billy of Akron, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2025, after a short battle with leukemia. Steve was born December 24, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of John S. and Anne M. Billy (nee Andrijowski). Steve grew up in the Loyal Oak neighborhood of Norton and was the eldest of 5 children. He enjoyed scouting in Troop 111 where he achieved the Order of the Arrow and rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13. Steve attended Norton High School where he delighted in music, playing bass clarinet and saxophone, which continued in college as a member of The Ohio State University Concert Band. One of Steve's greatest accomplishments was his dental career, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 1967. Steve was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and served in Vietnam with the SeaBees MCB4 as their Dental Officer, where he established new records for dental procedures that earned him the Naval Achievement Medal for distinguished service.
Steve married his beloved wife, Marjorie, in 1967, together raising four children. In 1977, Steve achieved a graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in the practice of Endodontics and a Master of Dental Science in Immunology. He established multiple dental practices in Barberton, OH, Fairlawn OH and York PA.
Steve enjoyed traveling, woodworking, car detailing, The Ohio State Buckeyes and people. He always took the time to greet everyone with a smile and was a stranger to no one.
Steve is survived by his sister, Yvonne (Pat) Weidner and sister-in-law, Katherine Billy, his 4 children: Stephen J. (Annette Girondi) Billy, Karen (Danny) Elliott, Douglas (Wendy) Billy, and Susan (Richard) Brooks, Grandchildren: Maren, Erin, Joel, Caden and Reese, nieces and nephews. Steve will also be missed by his many friends and staff at Ohio Living Rockynol.
A memorial service will be held with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery located on 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273. at 9:45 a.m. on July 25, 2025. A
private interment follows. A Celebration of Life will take place on July 25, 2025 at The Center on the Lake located on 2491 Canfield Rd, Akron OH 44312 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation checks can be made in Steve's name to The Great Trail Council (Boy Scouts of America) at 4500 Hudson Drive, Stow, OH 44224.
We will miss him dearly and cherish the memories we have of him. As Steve would say, "Happy trails to you, until we meet again."
