Stephen R. Cernich, resident of Prairieville, LA was born on November 9, 1967, and passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 57. Stephen was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He loved entertaining and cooking for his family and friends. Stephen participated in many cooking contests with the Jambalaya Festival and the Boucherie Festival. He worked for Performance as a Maintenance Foreman at Oline Chemical.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Roberts Cernich; children, Fallene Cannon (Trent), Christopher Cernich (Kelly), Chance Cernich (Brittney), and Courtney Savoy; grandchildren; Olivia and Bryce Cannon, Ryder and Raylee Mayeux; parents, Calvin Jr. and Carolyn Butler Cernich; brother, Kevin Cernich; niece and nephew, Michael and Haleigh Cernich; his beloved dog, Jax.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Cernich; grandparents, Howard and Mae Butler, Calvin Sr. and Ruth Cernich; uncle, James Butler; in-laws, Bill and Carol Roberts.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at The Carpenter House for their kindness, compassion, and care during the family’s time of need.
The memorial service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be at the Gonzales Memorial VFW (42430 Churchpoint Rd Gonzales, LA 70737) on Saturday, October 25th from 11AM – 3PM.
