Stephen William Kmetz Jr., 85, of Capac, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 7, 2025.
He was born November 13, 1939, in Detroit to the late Stephen Sr. and Julia (nee Peski) Kmetz. He married Charron Stanley on September 2, 1961, at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Detroit.
Steve was a family man. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the world to him. Steve and Charron enjoyed attending as many of their events as possible. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 4556 in Imlay City and belonged to their color core. Steve also enjoyed woodworking and crafts.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 63 ¾ years Charron; children, Chris (Rachelle), Natalie (John) Kopp and David (Ashley); grandchildren, Nick (Samantha) Zenero, Tasha (Justin) Merillat, Steve (Brittany) Kmetz, Julie (Ryan) West, Barbara (Buck Littlejohn) Kmetz, Hayley (Darnell) Boland, Janelle Kmetz, Maia Kmetz, Jake Kmetz, John Jacob (Rachel) Kopp and Mack Decorah; great-grandchildren, Vera West, Aubrey West, Alyvia West, Chevelle Zenero, Kimora Littlejohn, Brenton Merillat, Brody Merillat, Brock Merillat, Kai Littlejohn, Karter Littlejohn, Keeten Littlejohn, Everett Kopp, Wesley Boland, David Neil Kmetz, Dale Gore, Hayden Gore and Layton Gore; siblings, Thomas (Linda) Kmetz and Shirley Kmetz.
The family honors the memory of Steve and invites you to visit and share memories Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac, with rosary devotion at 6:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with 10:00 a.m. visitation. Fr. Mike Gawlowski, pastor will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to Knights of Columbus council 4556.
