Steven Michael Walenczak, 75, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born July 1, 1949, in Germany, he was the son of Hieronim and Frances Wincek Walenczak. On April 12, 1975, he married Charlene Kujawa in Toledo, OH. Steven passed just four days short of their 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was drafted and served during the Vietnam War as a medic.
Steven worked as a supervisor for Champion Spark Plug for 50 years.
He loved to golf and would go fishing every week with his best friend, Bert Hunterbrinker. Steven was an avid fan of THE Ohio State Buckeyes and cheered them on during every game. Most of all, Steven loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Walenczak of West Burlington; one daughter, Lisa (Brad) DeWitt of West Burlington; granddogs, Chi Chi, Baylee and Nala; two brothers, Walter (Connie) Walenczak of Maumee, OH, and John (Debbie) Walenczak of Toledo, OH; sister-in-law, Sharon Kujawa of Toldeo, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Trzonkowski, nephew, David Trzonkowski and two brothers-in-law, Norm and Ken Kujawa.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard to conclude the visitation.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Steve was my supervisor on the Ground Ball Welder. I was impressed by his knowledge on spark plugs. I´m very sorry for the families loss.
