Steven L. Carey, 52, Joplin, MO, passed away January 12, 2025 at his home after a short illness.
Steven Lee Carey was born August 30, 1972 the son of Dennis Carey and Patricia A. (Holt) Carey. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Seneca High School. Steve enjoyed music and playing chest. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for the former USA Tank in Seneca. Later he worked for Bordertown Casino, Indigo Sky Casino and Grand Lake Casino.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother Trish Bowman and his step-father Barry Bowman.
Survivors include one son, Brandon Carey and wife Jordanlea; daughters, Hannah Carey and husband Eli Messimore and Tasha Cole and husband Drake; grandchildren, Samuel Carey, Leila Carey, Gabriel Carey, Serenity Messimore, Aries Cole; his father Dennis Carey and wife Kareen; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of extended family and friends.
The body has been taken for cremation under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
