Steven Fischer, age 64, of Cecil, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2024, and is now resting peacefully in the arms of God. He was born on July 21, 1960, in Shawano to the late Marvin and Helen (Boerst) Fischer. He graduated from Bonduel High School with the class of 1978. Steve was raised on the Fischer Family Farm in Cecil. He was proud to have been able to continue the farm's legacy, which is 150 years running. Steve loved fieldwork, tending to his animals, and made sure through the farm he instilled important life lessons and values in his children. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marie Short, on August 30, 1980, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to the neighbors, including the Amish community. Whether it was helping with farming, transporting, and trading, he was always generous. Steve will be remembered for his light and fun-loving personality and his love of sports. He was always known for his wit and endless wise cracking jokes while chatting with his family, friends, and neighbors. Steve loved his children deeply and cherished his time with his five grandchildren. Being a grandfather was his pride and joy. He enjoyed taking them on tractor rides and looked forward to pumpkin picking every Fall. One of his most cherished memories was celebrating the 4th of July with his family and going fishing with them. Steve was never one to turn down extra dessert or candy bars. He will be dearly missed.
Steve is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Marie Fischer; his children, Joanna (Benjamin) Leach, Josh (Angela) Fischer and Jordan (Sara) Fischer; his grandchildren, Ellie, Blakely, Leo, Landon and Natalie; his sisters, Sandy Lotto, Marlene Westgor and Jolene Fischer; his grand-dogs Barley, Izzy, and Jax. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents Marvin and Helen; his parents-in-law, John and Frances Short; his brother-in-law Bob Westgor; his grandson Jackson; and his niece, Megan Short.
A memorial service for Steve will be held at 11:00 am on Friday August 9, 2024, at St. Martins Catholic Church in Cecil with Deacon Todd Raether officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday at the church at 9:30 am and will continue until the time of service. Burial will be held in the Navarino Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the emergency responders for their efforts.
