Steven Montgomery Obituary

Steven Wayne Montgomery, 56, a resident of Houston, passed from this life on Friday, 07 February 2025 at the Michael DeBakey Veterans Hospital in Houston. He was born on December 17, 1968 at Memorial Hospital in Texas City as the second child of Milam Clyde Montgomery of Arcadia, TX and Susan Nanette Plaumann (Cooper) of Washington, PA.
Steve spent his early years growing up in Santa Fe before moving to Houston and graduating High School in Spring, Texas in 1987. Upon graduation, he entered service in United States Marine Corps and attended recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California in 1988. During his service Steve worked in Finance, served as a General Officer's driver in a combat zone and achieved the rank of Corporal. He would spend the majority of his time in service at overseas posts and was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Steve was extremely proud of his service to his country.
After earning an honorable discharge from the Marines, he returned to Houston where he attended San Jacinto College and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Information Technology. Throughout his career, he worked for several companies in a variety of industries in Administrative and Information Systems Departments. He concluded his career by working in Administrative roles and volunteering at the Veterans Administration offices in Houston and surrounding areas.
He is survived by his father Milam Montgomery and his wife Helen, brother David Montgomery and his wife Karen (Sip), brother Michael Montgomery and his wife Karen, sister Denise Baty-Doss, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Susan Nanette Plaumann and nephew Kegan Michael Montgomery.
In Steve's honor, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:00a at Scott's Funeral Home located in Alvin, TX. An interment will be held immediately following at the Alvin Confederate Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be David Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, Bubba Doss, Brad Montgomery, Tyler Montgomery and George Walker.
