Steven Wilson Obituary

Steven "Papaw" Wade Wilson, 70, went to his Heavenly home Wednesday, July 9th 2025. He was born January 27, 1955 to the late Wintford A. and Nettie Jane Wilson.
Steve spent most of his life doing what he loved best behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. He had many stories of his time as a truck driver and if you needed a good place to eat, in just about any state across America, he could tell you down to what exit you needed to take. Steve loved hunting and fishing, and his days never started without his coffee.
Steve's pride and joys were his beautiful grandchildren. Steve spent the last year of his life traveling cross country and back. He spent a lot of time in Las Vegas where he met some great friends. He recently settled down in Murphy, NC in a cabin in the woods where he found peace.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Susan Johnson; Fathers-in-law Billy Barnes and Wayne Warren; nephew Allen Wilson; and niece Lisa Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughter Veronica Howington and husband Ronald of Hixson, TN; sons Jamie Wilson of Ringgold, GA and Zach Wilson and wife Amanda of Dunlap, TN; 11 grandchildren Kolbie Hise, Isaiah, Lance Corporal Joshua, and Katelyn (his "sissy girl") Howington, Julie, Eli, Camden, Hayden, Brooklynn, Krymsyn (his "pretty girl") and Dixie Wilson; 3 great-grandchildren Capella and Sebastian Lacher and Ameillia Howington; sisters Renee Oakes and husband Ernie of Ringgold, GA, Candi Clark, of Chattanooga, TN; brother Gary Wilson and wife Susie of Cleveland, TN; mother-in-law Ann Warren; sister-in-law Sandy Barnes of Whitwell, TN; and several nieces and nephes; and special friends Ashly Mustard and Regina Smith.
Family has chosen to have a graveside service for family and friends as Steve's final wishes, "a simple man, simply laid to rest" at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Ringgold, GA Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 1 P.M with Pastor Butch Hullander officiating.
