It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sudie Loretta Rodriguez, who departed this life on June 26, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born on August 10, 1946, in Harlan, KY. Sudie was a shining example of grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her — not only as a devoted wife and mother, but as the steadfast heart of a large family. Later in life Sudie became an employee at Harlan Food City where she worked for 23 years, and was proud of that accomplishment.
Sudie is survived by her six children, Johnny (Fredia) Rodriguez, Teresa Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez Jr. (Cathy), David Rodriguez, Hazel Rodriguez, Sam (Missy) Rodriguez; Twelve grandchildren, and Sixteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her spirit. Her legacy, values, and traditions will live on through those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her Father, Ulysses King; Mother, Joanie Farmer King; Children, Mark Rodriguez, Mary Angel Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, and Husband, Jose Rodriguez.
Sudie found joy in the simple beautiful moments of life. She loved the outdoors, where she felt closest to God and at peace. She always loved seeing the flowers bloom in the spring and the trees change colors in the fall.
She was the quiet strength in her family — a woman of enduring kindness, deep faith, and boundless love. She gave of herself freely and lived a life defined not by material things, but by the deep connections she built and the lives she touched.
Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing that Sudie's journey continues in a place of eternal peace. We will miss her every day - her soft smile, her wise words, and her warm hugs — but we are forever grateful for the time we were blessed to share with her.
A grave side service will be held to honor and celebrate her life and memory on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Grays Knob Cemetery at 3PM.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day."
Rest in peace, Mom. You will forever be in our hearts.
