Susan Disch, age 72, died peacefully at her home in Norfolk, Nebraska on July 6, 2025.
Su was born on December 26, 1952, to Daniel and Rita Devine in Portage, Wisconsin. She married William "Bill" Disch on July 30, 1977, in Portage. The couple was blessed with two sons, Brian and Justin.
Su obtained her B.S. degree in German/Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Su taught English in Germany, where she lived for a time, and taught English and German in Beach, North Dakota. Later, Su worked for the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue in Madison, before devoting her time to raising Brian and Justin (and their friends in the early years).
Su also obtained a Master's degree in English from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. She was an adjunct instructor at Wayne State College and the director of the Writer's Clinic at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
Su was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Allison and Caleb of Crete, Nebraska, and Isabelle, Colette, Dexter, Ruby, and Poppy of Elkhorn, NE.
Su was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William "Bill" Devine of Portage, WI; and brother-in-law, Howard LaBrant of Rockford, IL.
She is survived by her husband Bill; sons, Brian (Lisa) Disch of Crete, NE and Justin (Megan) Disch of Elkhorn, NE; seven grandchildren; sister, Pat Devine-LaBrant of Rockford IL/Westminster, CO; brothers, Richard (Vicky) Devine of Baraboo, WI, and Tom (Patty) Devine of Sun Prairie/Lake Delton, WI; and sister-in-law, Cindy Devine of Portage, WI. Additionally, Su has numerous nieces and nephews from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, and California.
While Su's family appreciates everyone's support, thoughts, and prayers, they request no memorials, cards, or flowers, etc. Per Su's request, there will not be a public service or ceremony.
Su will be missed very much as an extraordinary lady, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. As for a friend, one could not have a more devoted one.
