Susan Leslie Preston

Age 75, of Carver, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025.

Susan was the beloved wife of Richard Preston for over five decades, devoted mother of Tracy Mazzuca and her husband Michael, Sydney Preston and her wife Brenda, and Brian Preston and his husband Bryan Sharland. She was the proud and loving "Grammie and Mimi" to her cherished grandchildren Nathaniel, Benjamin, Emily, Andrew, Lucas, and Samantha.

Susan, daughter of the late Ethel Campbell Vroom and Charles Vroom, was the dear sister of Harold Campbell and his wife Marie, and sister-in-law to Joanne Vroom and Charles Preston. She was predeceased by her siblings Charles Vroom, Virginia (Jini) Vengren, and Shirley Porter, as well as sister-in-law Barbara Preston. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, along with a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends who were family to her in every sense of the word.

Born and raised in Somerville, Susan graduated from Somerville High School and began her career at John Hancock. In 1975, she and Rich moved to Carver, where she worked and later retired from the Carver School Department.

Known affectionately as "Sue, Mom, Grammie, Mimi, Sue Sue, Aunt Sue, Auntie Sue Sue," Susan touched the lives of everyone around her. She was the heart of her neighborhood, a "mom to all," and a treasured friend-part of the "three amigos" and a proud member of the "divine nine." Her warmth, laughter, and kindness will be remembered always.

A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Saturday, October 4th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Carver MA, from 9:00 to 12:00pm. A service will begin at 12:00pm. Burial service will directly follow at the Central Cemetery in Carver.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan's name to Dana Farber Cancer Center.
