Susie Ann Maturin Delahoussaye, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on November 19, 1954, and was a lifelong resident of St. Martinville.
Susie's greatest joy in life was her family. Although strong-willed and witty, she was always present-not just for the big moments, but for the everyday ones too. Before her mother's passing you could find them enjoying coffee each morning catching up on the latest news. Susie was a constant source of love, support, encouragement and a heart that somehow made room for everyone. She was nurturing when it mattered, and the biggest supporter to her children and grandchildren. Also "Mama" not just to her own, but to many in the neighborhood who knew they could count on her for advice, a laugh, or a quick reality check.
Susie dedicated many years of her life to Ideal Auto Sales, where she excelled in every aspect of the business, from administrative duties to car sales. Her passion and drive were evident in all she did. When she wasn't working, she looked forward to spending summers camping with her family at the KOA Campground, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
She was a dedicated member of the Bingo Hall and would've gone every day if she could. Whether at bingo or a family event, Susie always had her Coca-Cola and cigarettes close by. She had a way of making even the most ordinary moment memorable.
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love through her children: Tina Arceneaux (Billy Landry) and Connie Arceneaux; her grandchildren: Billy Arceneaux, Damien Landry (Taylor), Hogan Landry (Katelynn), Hazey Gary, Blake Gary (Shay), and Hayston Gary (Mallory); and her great-grandchildren: Zachary, Carter, Elijah, Mal'akhi, Legend, Ry'Lon, Mariana, Nora, and Creed.
She is also survived by her longtime companion, Mark Racca; her godchildren: Krystal Viator, Jonathan Maturin, Shane Maturin, Amber Maturin, and Desiree Maturin; her sister, Brenda Romero (LeRoy); and her brother, Randy Maturin.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Elain Touchet Maturin; her paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Annaise Gary Maturin; her maternal grandparents, Adia Toups Touchet and Adam Touchet; her husband, Chris Delahoussaye; her sisters, Gloria Maturin (Johnny) and Cheryl David (Eddie Sr.); and her grandson, Auston Arceneaux.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Rd., Broussard immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2409 Coteau Rd., New Iberia.
Susie's legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. She was one of a kind and will be deeply missed but forever cherished and remembered by all who loved her.
