It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of T.H. Hill, also known as "Poppy" to many, who departed this life on June 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 29, 1938, in the small town of Block, Tennessee, to the late Carley and Bula (nee Ballard) Hill. He lived a life marked by resilience, selflessness, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Poppy bravely served his country as an Airborne Ranger in the Army, enlisting on September 26, 1955, and being honorably discharged on March 7, 1962, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. He embodied the ideals of duty, honor, and bravery, instilling in those around him the importance of strength and kindness.
As an accomplished electrician at Ford Motor Company, Poppy was a jack of all trades, known for his ability to tackle any challenge with a smile. His selfless nature and giving spirit left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He truly exemplified what it means to be a role model, building a family founded on love and strength, and serving as a pillar of support for many.
Poppy was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Linda Lou (nee Lawson) Hill; Loving father of Victor (Tracey) Hill and Dion Scott Hill; Cherished grandfather of Mallory Hill, Anthony (Amber) Adams, Danielle Byrd, Jocelyn Huff, Chelsea Crawford, Courtney Adams, Lyndsey (Wayne) Stevens, Cydney (Josh) Mannix, Victor Hill, Thomas (Lexi) Hill, and McKenna Hill; Great-grandfather of 17, and great-great grandfather of 1; Dear brother of Dorcas Hill and Arley "Ronnie" (Janet) Hill.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Paul Hill, Willard Hill, Helen Joyce West, and Emmett Hill.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation that will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen, Ohio. A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
