Ernestine (Teenie) Schoolcraft Morrison (94), of
St. Albans, WV, passed away peacefully at Rolling Meadows Place, Teays Valley, WV on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
She was born in Millstone, WV, on May 24, 1931. Teenie was preceded in death by her husband, William Burton ("Bill") Morrison, whom she unselfishly supported in his many endeavors for 73 years. After Bill served his country in the United States Air Force, including one year in North Africa, they moved to Nitro briefly and then lived in St. Albans for almost 70 years.
Teenie was the daughter of Ola Schoolcraft, Sr. and Myrl Brady Schoolcraft, who preceded her in death as well as her brother, Ola Schoolcraft, Jr. (wife Niela June) of Spencer, WV and her niece, Joyce Ann Schoolcraft-Williams of Rainelle, WV.
Most of the years when Bill was going to school or working long hours, Teenie was a stay-at-home Mom and the best one ever. St. Andrew United Methodist Church in
St. Albans, WV, was Teenie's church home where she served over 70 years and she cherished the many deep friendships in the Crusaders' Sunday School class.
Teenie was devoted to exercising. For many years and well into her 80s, her exercises included bike riding, walking and attending her exercise group classes at First Baptist Church of Saint Albans which followed with a "meeting" at Tim Hortons with so many special friends. No doubt her dedication to exercise helped keep her active and her mind sharp until the very end.
After Bill's passing in 2024, she quickly made Rolling Meadows Place her home. After moving to Rolling Meadows, Teenie came into her own, including active participation in all the activities and events available. After her passing, the staff shared many testimonials, such as "she pulled my heart strings every time I talked to her", "Teenie was truly a gift to our community", "Miss Teenie was a soothing soul", " even on hard days, she carried herself with patience and love", "a gentle and beautiful spirit", "made every day with her feel like a gift", to name a few. Teenie made everyone feel special and always inspired everyone around her with her positive attitude.
Even though she was legally blind, she was meticulous about her appearance. For example, Bill would change her watchband every morning to match her outfit. After Bill's passing and her move to Rolling Meadows, she would recruit staff to change her watchband every day.
Teenie told many that "I have lived a good life" and leaves a legacy to remain positive and optimistic through all of life's valleys, treat everyone equally and look for the good in people and tell them about it. One staff at Rolling Meadows wrote "I've never had a resident that cared so much for other people and their well-being, even when she didn't feel good herself" and another wrote "In all my years of nursing, I have never worked with a resident who exuded true peace and joy the way Teenie did."
Surviving is her daughter, Debi Jarvis (husband Jan) of
St. Albans, WV; her son, Greg Morrison (wife Ann) of Raleigh, NC; her five grandchildren Lisa Reger (husband Chris), Chad Starcher (wife Cassandra), William ("Billy") Morrison, Jonathan Wester (wife Maggie) and Tina Hurst. She is also survived by her brother, John Schoolcraft (wife Carolyn); her nieces, Susan Campbell (husband Larry), Beth Bryan (husband Ken), Karen O'Dell (husband Garrett) and Kimberly Sandlin and nephews, Alan Schoolcraft-Williams, Sean Schoolcraft and Scott Schoolcraft (wife Tachsha) and her ten great grandchildren, Asher, Austin, Ava, Brody, Ethan, Kylie, Natalie, Paisley, Ryan and Palmer.
At Teenie's request there will be no visitation or service. She graciously donated her body for the advancement of medical education and research to the Human Gift Registry, Marshall University School of Medicine, Huntington, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Teenie's memory to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace,
St. Albans, WV 25177 and Christ Kitchen, PO Box 248,
St. Albans, WV 25177.
