Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallace & Wallace Inc Funeral Chapels & Crematory - Rainelle on Jul. 7, 2025.
Thelma Geneva (Berry) Shuck, 97 of Maplewood, West Virginia, passed into Eternal Life Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, peacefully in the comfort of her home.
She was born on January 28, 1928, at Meadow Bridge, Fayette County, WV. She was a daughter of the late Sylvester V. and Icy Lee (Sheppard) Berry and stepdaughter to the late Willie Grace (Bostic) Berry.
In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Calvin Eugene "Cub" Shuck Sr. four siblings, Sylvan "Curtis" Berry, Wesley Stanton Berry, Mary Eva Berry, Ruby Undine (Berry) Gravely and one stepsibling Mildred Lillian (Sarver) Withrow.
Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor. She was an avid gardener with a true green thumb. Thelma enjoyed a simple life, loved living in the country, watched old shows, and listened to country and bluegrass music. She also enjoyed chatting on the phone daily to her family and friends. She had attended church at the Maplewood Chapel of Maplewood. A God- fearing woman who walked with confidence, trusting that the Lord would look after her and everyone she loved and prayed for daily. Thelma's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. With the years and the passing of loved ones, she would say, "Another Flower for the Master's Bouquet." Her great love for God was the force behind who she was and all she did.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Ruth Elder (Berry) Blevins; son, Calvin Eugene Shuck, Jr.; two daughters, Deborah Gale Shuck, and Joan Carol (Shuck) Gunther (Timothy); two grandchildren, Heather Ann (Shuck) Whaples (Timothy Wayne) and Jeremy Eugene Shuck (Tammy Lea), along with their mother Joyce Ann (Bryant) Shuck; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Wayne Whaples, Taylor Lea Dolin, Tyler Eugene Shuck and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ann Shuck; host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
