Theresa Stansberry, 81, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family in her sister’s home in Morgantown. She was born on February 22, 1944, to Carl and Elma (Henry) Pongratz of Morgantown, West Virginia, who preceded her in death.
Theresa graduated from St. Francis High School and then went on to graduate from Morgantown Beauty School. She was a hardworking beautician for more than 40 years, owning and operating The Beauty Nook in Star City and later Suncrest Hair Manor in Chelsea Square. She was always deeply grateful for her loyal clientele, many of whom became lifelong friends.
A lifelong Catholic, Theresa looked forward to attending Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Star City alongside her sister, Carla. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, where she volunteered her time feeding the poor
Theresa had a kind and generous heart. She opened her home to foster children and spent her life caring for others. She never met a stranger, and those fortunate enough to know her were touched by her warmth and laughter.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Martin of Morgantown and Tammie Capet of New Martinsville; her grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, and Emily Martin; and her sisters, Dianna (Dave) Helbert of Kempton, PA, and Carla (George) Drvar of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by her nephews, Karl (Jennifer) Lampart, Steve (Malinda) Lampart, Jason (Beth) Drvar, Christopher (Danette) Drvar, and Travis (Devan) Drvar, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Theresa’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held. Condolences may be sent to her sister and caretaker, Carla Drvar, 4 Darlington Road, Morgantown, WV 26501.
