Tom Canfield, age 81, passed away February 28, 2025, in Tenino, Washington. He was born March 23, 1943, to Warren and Hazel Canfield in Los Angeles, California.
Tom graduated from La Habra High School in 1961. He received his Bachelor's degree with a major in mathematics in 1966 and his MBA in 1968 from UCLA. He married Judy Canfield on December 12, 1969, in La Habra Heights, California. Over the years Tom and Judy lived in numerous places - Southern California (1969-1978); Anchorage, Alaska (1978-1981); Lake Oswego, Oregon (1981-1984); Lake Tahoe, Nevada (1984-2004); Ocean Shores, Washington (2004-2012); Brookings-Harbor, Oregon (2012-2021); and Offutt Lake, Washington (2021-2025).
Tom had the mind of a mathematician - always calculating something in his head. He worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Labor, and the State of Nevada Insurance Division for over 35 years. After he retired, Tom loved to golf, travel, and spend time with family and friends. He was a kind person who people would go to for advice. He is survived by daughters, Debbie (Stan) Simmons of Navarre, Florida, Kristi (Chris) Bair of Dupont, Washington, Karin (Jeremy) Young of Salem, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Judy Canfield; parents, Warren and Hazel Canfield; brother, Steve Canfield; sons, Joe Canfield and Ric Canfield.
