Thomas Edward Hicks, age 83, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on February 5, 2025. Born on October 10, 1941, in Niota, TN, Thomas lived a full life marked by love and connection with his family and friends.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Laura "Libby" Hicks, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised a family that includes their daughter, Cathy Hicks Ostrander, son-in-law Tad Ostrander, grandson Dan Ostrander, great-granddaughter Rachel Ostrander, and great-grandson Zachary Ostrander.
Thomas was a man who enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved spending time by the river, water skiing, riding in the mountains, and walking on the beach while watching the sunsets. He worked for many years as a lineman at Cleveland Utilities, always ready with his boots next to his chair at the first sound of thunder. After his retirement, he discovered a passion for real estate and enjoyed flipping properties.
He will be remembered fondly by his extended family, including several nieces and nephews in Athens, Niota, Sweetwater, and Lenoir City. Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life that touched everyone he met. His spirit will live on through the countless memories shared with family and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents: James Hicks, Alice Hicks; Brothers: Roscoe Hicks, Jeff Hicks, Wesley Hicks; and Sisters: Eva Brakebill and Gladys Baker.
