Thomas Emanuel "Tommy" Johnson, Sr., age 89, of Springfield, KY passed away at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

A native of Washington County, he was born on December 12, 1935 to the late Joseph Polin "Jack" and Frances Isabelle Smith Johnson.

Preceding him in death was a son, Thomas Emaunel "Chip" Johnson, Jr. on April 10, 2012 and a daughter-in-law, Val Johnson on Janaury 14, 2023.

Tommy was a veteran of the United States Navy. He spent his working career as a mechanic in off shore drilling and pipeline installation retiring as chief engineer and equipment superintendent for Santa Fe Engineering and Construction.

On October 23, 1954 he was united in marriage to Margaret Hazel Williams whom he is survived by. Also surviving is his daughter, Karen Johnson Lawrie (John) of Wayzata, MN; a son, Joseph Bruce "Jack" Johnson of Shepherdsville; a daughter-in-law, Corinne Miller-Grover of Elroy, WI; three grandchildren, Stuart Johnson Lawrie (Missy) of Durham, NC, Christy Elizabeth Kooyer (Andrew) of Edina, MN and Andrew James Lawrie (Rebecca) of Richfield, MN; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Gertrude Mudd of Bardstown and Roxie Vize of Louisville and two brothers, Robert C. Johnson of Lawrence, Kansas and F. Martin "Mike" Johnson (Juanita) of Findlay, Ohio.

One of Tommy's favorite sayings was, "If you're going to be a bear, be a Grizzly!"

In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
