Thomas Lawless Obituary

Thomas Joseph Lawless, age 79, of Mayville died on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Saginaw Covenant Hospital.
He was born on April 5, 1946 and raised by his parents, the late Bernard and Margaret Lawless, in Waterford and Clarkston Michigan. Tom graduated from Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes High School in 1964 and served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1968. He was proud to have served his country and spoke fondly of that experience.
After the Navy, Tom worked for the A&P grocery store in Clarkston, MI, where he met his wife Linda Tower. They married in 1970 and lived in Waterford, where Tom served as a volunteer fireman. The family relocated to Mayville in 1976 and raised five children together.
Tom worked for General Motors in Pontiac for over 35 years. A dedicated employee, he worked in a variety of positions for the company over the years and took advantage of the opportunity to complete his college degree at Northwood University by studying at night and attending courses
on the weekends. For the last several years of his career he managed facilities operations at multiple office buildings.
In retirement, he was active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mayville and the Mayville American Legion Post.
He leaves behind his wife Linda; his five children, Laura (Steve) Walker of Vassar, Andy (Erin Klapp) Lawless of Baltimore MD, Heather (David) Middleton of Mayville, Ted (Lauren Plews) Lawless of Ann Arbor, and Rachel Lawless of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, Emily Middleton Gyomory, Luke Middleton, Leah Middleton, Grace Middleton, Chase Walker, Kyle Walker, Claire Lawless, and Charlie Lawless; and two great grandsons. He also enjoyed keeping in touch with his sister, Kathy (Mike) Miller of Dimanondale, and brother, Dan (Linda) Crimin of Holt.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Avram Funeral Home and from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Avram Funeral Home.
Burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Mayville, the American Legion Post 181 of Mayville or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
